Oh wow! Excellent idea for how to use those little leftover scrap bits. When the paper is so pretty, I never want to throw it away no matter how small the piece. So, this is a great idea! You can make a couple a week and give them away to someone you think deserves a special treat, the mailman, a teacher, your little one…

SWEET!

Kits
So, I’ll stick with my family theme today and talk a bit about my daughter. She’s a wonderful, sassy scrapbook diva (apple doesn’t fall far…?). Anyway, it’s really hard to find really cute teen girl kits, papers, embellishments, etc. But I found some today! It’s TOTALLY 80′s Valley Girl! OMG!

OMG. Totally Rad Kit, Man...
So, I haven’t shared much about me because I pretty much want this to be a scrapbooking site. But something came to my attention today that I’d like to share. I was looking on the internet for cool things to share with you and I came across Digital Scrapbooking at Statements by Jodi. She had an article about autism. My son has Asperger’s Syndrome which is a form of autism. So, of course, it was a must read for me. Well, because I am so familiar with autism, the article was like many I have read before. But, below the article, was a scrapbooking kit for Autism Awareness. I cried. When my son was a baby, people weren’t even talking about Aspergers or even Autism that much for that matter. So, it is beautiful to see that people are finally getting the word out. Thank you Jodi, for your wonderful kit. Support Autism Awareness by sending Jodi’s link to everyone you know!

New Techniques
Check this out:

If you have already created layered lettering titles for your pages many time over, and are looking for a more advanced challenge, try paper piecing the layers. In the sample below, I used the Kindergarten Upper and Lower Tracers from EK Success as the base for each of the letters. Then I added additional layers to give each letter an “animated” look. Use the lettering template to help you create each layer to the exact shape of the letters. For example, for the “M”:
1) Trace an Upper “M” from black cardstock.
2) Before you cut the letter out, add two circles (can be traced from other parts of the template, or trace around a circle punched piece) to the top of the letter. Then cut out the whole thing as one piece.
3) Trace and cut an Upper “M” from red cardstock.
4) Cut the red “M” in half and adhere the lower portion to your black “M.”
5) Add two small punched yellow/orange circles to finish the letter.
Continue, using your creativity to decorate each letter. You can follow a logo found at Disney Clipart.com for color and theme ideas for this project.
Tip I: Using the lettering template to make this title makes it significantly faster and easier than simply paper piecing it from scratch.
Tip II: Other words look great in this style. Try your child’s name, the name of the park you visited, or even the date that you traveled.
